Let the festivities begin
The holidays in downtown Oklahoma City are one of my favorite times.
The lights and decorations brighten up the downtown buildings. The events and festivities encourage people to play, discover more about our city, and visit local retail stores and restaurants. The season also highlights the support of numerous business partners to showcase our city and encourage the spirit of community. Most of these festivities couldn’t happen without their support.
Downtown in December, presented by Devon, starts Friday and runs through Jan. 2. This series of holiday events and attractions features outdoor ice skating, a tree lighting festival, afternoon visits with Santa Claus, a festive holiday run, snow tubing, free water taxi excursions, performing arts, shopping, and parties.
Automobile Alley turns on the twinkle on Nov. 18, during the annual Lights on Broadway. The occasion starts with an open house from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Broadway Avenue between NW Fourth and 10th streets and adjacent streets. There will be complimentary carriage rides, visits with Santa, live performances, a s’more station and shopping.
The Bricktown Tree Lighting is Nov. 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Third Base Plaza at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Presented by Sonic, the event includes a live band, food trucks, face painting and visits with Santa.
